The Canadian War Museum, in Ottawa, presents two exhibitions to mark the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. The first one, entitled 1812, features more than 160 artefacts from North American and British institutions. With its unique approach, this exhibition provides a better understanding of the war, its causes and its consequences.
The second exhibit, Faces of 1812, consists mainly of portraits drawn from Library and Archives’ collection that highlight the human side of the War of 1812. Military or everyday life scenes, rare books, artefacts and more tell the story of life in early 19th century.
Both exhibitions will be on display from June 13, 2012 until January 6, 2013.
