virtualmuseum.ca is proud to highlight one of its most recent Virtual Exhibit launches, produced in partnership with the Bill Reid Foundation. The Raven’s Call presents the world’s most comprehensive website on the life and work of one of Canada’s premier artists, Bill Reid. As an artist, he is best known for his spectacular wood- and metal-works, which evoke haunting images of the spirit and natural world of Canada’s aboriginal west coast.
The exhibit brings together material from over 50 institutions from across the country. Images of over 200 works – from jewellery to sculpture to prints – are presented in stunning detail. His life and influences are explored through a wide selection of photographic archival material, as well as audio and video interviews with the artist himself.
