In many ways the hop season was treated like a holiday by many. Work would be long and tiring but the evening provided time to gather and socialize. A committee was set up each year to help plan social events and help with all the needs of the workers during the picking season. The Community Hall on a Saturday night often held a dance and on Sunday worship services were held. Lahal, a First Nation game was very popular among all at the yards. Chanting and drumming took place with the First Nations bands.
