 The
gifts of love are written on the landscape in grand and humble
ways from ancient times to modern. Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon,
built the Hanging Gardens, one of the Seven Wonders of the World,
for his Persian wife Semiramis, and the Mogul emperor Shah Jahan
gave us the Taj Mahal in memory of his beloved. Lovers carve their
names in trees and stone and the name of Cupid is attached to towns
and villages in the ancient world, Europe, and North America.
