Shay Locomotive

Shay Locomotive
What made the Shay locomotive different from a traditional locomotive?

The steam was heated with wood instead of coal, since that was the material available.

It could be repaired using parts from other engines and locomotives, not proprietary parts

All wheels are driven equally by the engine on both sides (instead of thrusting side to side) to reduce wear on the wooden tracks.

All of the above
