The Orwell Corner Historic Village provides a wonderful look at how things were done on the farm nearly a century ago. The farmer would hitch up a team of horses to the newest invention of the day, a beater digger. This piece of machinery was ground-driven which means as the wheels rotated they in turn spun the device that lifted up the soil and made the potatoes easy to harvest.
