As for on
the beach when the moss comes in you have to use, on this side of the
Island, you have to wait for a strong northwest wind and on the other
side of the Island it’s a northeast wind. And usually you know
when moss is going to come in. Like when my husband and I were harvesting
we always packed a lunch and we were always ready to go and you know
all the spots where to go and you could take your kids with you and
it was like a family affair. Everybody on the beach knew everybody and
it was just fantastic. That was say in the late ’80s and early
’90s. But even when I was a child, my father was a harvester,
we’ve been harvesting since we were kids and the moss would be
on the beach and you could go down anytime and get moss and go sell
it. When were kids we’d go with little bread bags. |
