To accommodate the preferences of the many surfers of this page, the checklist of the Birds of Manitoba will be presented in two ways.

• First, a simple alphabetical list of Common Names. This list is especially for beginning birders, students, and those looking for some basic background.
• Second, a list of common names grouped into Families. The list also includes scientific names and conservation rankings. This list is for the birder familiar with the way birds are listed in the field guides.

Common Name

The following list is presented in alphabetical order. Birds with a two part common name, eg. Golden Eagle, appear twice in the list. Once under E, for Eagle, Golden, and once under G, for Golden Eagle.
