A species originally collected by the Yale Peruvian expedition of 1911 where it was collected up to 4 400 m. Above, this butterfly is blackish brown with a white fringe and grey at the forewing base. Below, it is black and grey. It is listed by Dr. G. Lamas as a common species of the coast.
