Native Dancing
Youth dancing at the Indian Village during the 1985 Stampede Powwow Celebration. During powwows, native people dance, drum, sing, and share time with friends and family. Many regional dance styles are brought together which reflect traditional roles of warriors, hunters, and Elders. This boy is doing the Fancy Dance which originates in the Southern Plains. Spinning and moving about quickly, the dancer imitates the wings of a butterfly.
