It is fun to go out to the bush and film the elders and listen to them tell stories… As we are the next generation, it is up to us to keep our culture and language alive.
Hi, my name is Charmayne Brinkworth. I was born in Fort St John on January 18th 1990. My parents' names are Barb Davis and Edward Brinkworth. I have a twin brother his name is Cash and we are 15. I have a sister. Her name is Brittany and she is 14. I live in Doig with my mother, Brittany and Cash. My father lives in Fort St John. I enjoy playing volleyball, watching hockey, watching movies, hanging out with my friends, quadding, snowboarding, listening to music and helping others. My favorite sport is volleyball. My goals in life are to go to university and play volleyball and do something that I enjoy. I would like to be an environmentalist because I like studying about the environment. I think it would be really interesting to learn how to speak and understand the Beaver language. My whole family on my mother's side speaks Beaver.
This project we are doing is a really good experience for all of us to learn. We learn about how the Dana-ẕaa people used to live and all about our culture. As we are the next generation, it is up to us to keep our culture and language alive. That is why I am involved in this web design project. It is fun to go out to the bush and film the elders and listen to them tell stories. I have learned a lot -- like how to use a video camera, take sound and use the light reflector.
