Dedicated to preserving the culture and heritage of the Inuit, Inuvialuit, Dene and Metis, as well as non-aboriginal peoples of the Canadian Arctic and Subarctic, the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre houses the territorial museum, the Northwest Territories (NWT) Archives, and
provides many heritage services and programs for NWT communities. The diverse programs of the Centre are part of the Culture and Heritage Division of the Department of Education, Culture and Employment, Government of the NWT. The Centre's permanent collection of approximately
100,000 objects and specimens, represents the history of the aboriginal and non-indigenous peoples, the flora and fauna, and the geology of the NWT.
