The founding director of the Insectarium de Montréal,Georges Brossard, offered his matchless insect collection to the City of Montreal in October 1987. It comprises the main collection on exhibit at the Insectarium. Other collections of priceless scientific value, including that of Brother Firmin Laliberte, have been added to it.

Honeybee observation hive.The Insectarium's designers come from a wide variety of fields including science, museology, education, ecology and tourism. They have worked together to make the museum a place where everyone can learn. Interactive modules, video screens and the happy marriage of live and mounted specimens transform the museum into a marvelous place of discovery.

Entomology Laboratory.(photo:P.Halley)The Insectarium team has developed remarkable expertise in breeding insects and growing host plants. The breeding and entomology laboratories are glassed-in so visitors can admire and better understand the work of these insect enthusiasts.
