Nika Collison (Jisgung) of the Ts'aahl Eagle Clan was born in 1971. She is a singer, drummer, and weaver, and has been
working in her community for a number of years on Haida language, dance, and repatriation projects.
Nika is deeply honored to have worked with Jim Hart and the other carvers on "The Respect to Bill Reid Pole." In her
words, "I experienced so much - not only carving and its many dimensions - but also ways of thinking; I have new eyes
and a new heart." She plans to take up her carving tools again in the summer of 2002.
