Ernie Collison (Skilay), was born in 1948 and passed away tragically on September 17, 2001. His life is celebrated
by everyone who knew him in his many different roles - as Administrator of the Council of the Haida Nation; as
Haida artist and historian; as both a student and a teacher of language, culture, and singing amongst his people;
as a lover of the lands, waters, and peoples of Haida Gwaii; as a husband, father, and grandfather. He raised
seven totem poles in his career, among them "The Respect to Bill Reid Pole." This website is dedicated to the memory of Ernie Collison.
