Airplanes are the perfect symbol of the 20th century. They have had a huge influence in armed conflicts, in developing isolated regions, transporting freight and passengers, and the tourism industry. Airplanes have brought people and continents closer together. Voyages that took several weeks at the beginning of the century now take only a few hours.
