Terms and conditions
The Virtual Museum of Canada (VMC) is a collaborative initiative undertaken in partnership with museums and other heritage organizations across Canada. It is administered by the Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN).
We are committed to enhancing the ease of use and accessibility of the Virtual Museum of Canada (VMC) for all, regardless of visual, hearing or mobility challenges. Content undergoes rigorous assessments to ensure it follows accessibility guidelines and best practices, and we are working with our museum partners to improve the accessibility of the content that they created and contributed in the past. If you have any concerns, questions, or advice on how we can meet your particular needs, please contact us at email@example.com.
Unless otherwise noted, all materials that are part of this website, including images, illustrations, designs, icons, photographs, video clips, written materials and others are copyrights, trademarks, trademark and/or other intellectual properties owned, controlled or licensed by Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN) or its member museums. This website is produced by the Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN), a special operating agency within the Department of Canadian Heritage, in collaboration with museums across the country. Content created by CHIN is produced in both English and French. Searches can be conducted in either French or English, but content contributed by member museums and other organizations not subjected to the Official Languages Act may be available only in the working language of that institution. CHIN continues to work with its partners to develop bilingual terminology in order to support searching capabilities in both official languages.
It is our policy to protect the privacy of all users. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy and ensure the appropriate use of information, the Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN) has put in place physical, electronic and management procedures to protect any information we collect online.
If you register as a "friend" of the VMC or if you wish to receive email updates in the VMC or our partners, the information you provide is collected by using the privacy-enhancing technology, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). This information is kept under CHIN's control, protected under the Privacy Act, and is not provided to any third party. You will not receive email you have not requested, and you may update or remove your name from mailing lists at any time by contacting us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have asked us a question that we can't answer, we may forward your message to someone who can provide you with that information, unless you have specifically asked us not to do so.
Questions or comments regarding this policy may be sent by email to email@example.com. If you are not satisfied with our response to your privacy concerns, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
