Our museum is located on the ground floor in a newly renovated room (65'x 22'),overlooking the beautiful ocean and next to a historic graveyard. We have new exhibits telling the history of Lewisporte & surrounding area. Our themes are Logging/Sawmill, Railroad/Coastal boats, local World War I & World War II, "Ladies Touch", general history etc. ( Plus an ongoing slide show of old historic photos )
About the Collections
Logging and carpentry tools. Photographs, painting and books. Old Household and children's items. Photography equipment. World War I & II artifacts, uniforms and documents . Medical equipment collection and a 28-foot hooked rug depicting history of Lewisporte. Two old wooden boats, 1 large stationary engine

We have an array of artifacts ranging from an old telephone, typewriters, to a medical equipment collection used by our local pioneer Doctors. we also have household objects such as appliances(ringer washer, ice box) to a German Machine gun.

Research Services
An excellent collection of Oral History. Recorded interviews of seniors from this area. This includes pioneer Doctor, nurse, teacher, sailors, sawmill worker, homemakers {one lady who was 103 years young }, several World War II Vets, Merchant Marine & Newfoundland Forestry Service, railway worker etc..... (All interviews have been transcribed)Plus we have a small collection of reference books & CD's. (We are hoping to expand onto our Oral History exhibit.)

I submit 1 or 2 old photos from our historic past to the newspaper, requesting information from their readers about these particular photos. We also provide brochures of the By the Bay Museum and Craft Shop.
