Sooke Region Museum
Région touristique : Vancouver Island
For thousands of years, nature has shaped the people who have lived in the temperate rainforests of Vancouver Island. The Sooke Region Museum is
dedicated to explain how this fascinating process has evolved and to share it with all who visit our unique facility.
You will learn about the arrival of the first aboriginal people and how their lives have changed through the ages to the present day. See how change was accelerated with the arrival to our shores of the first Spanish explorers, some 200 years ago, followed by the development of our many natural resources through trapping, farming, logging and fishing. Then stop beyond the process to discover the individuals and communities that have existed in our area. Through living exhibits, videos, special events, displayes and books, you will experience the true West Coast people and their environment.
