Craigdarroch Castle is a 25,000 square foot masonry house built in 1890 for Vancouver Island's Dunsmuir family. Today it is a National Historic Site owned by the Craigdarroch Castle Historical Museum Society. The Society operates site as a house museum.

The museum society is devoted to chronicling the history of Craigdarroch Castle from the time of the Dunsmuir family as well as the history of the subsequent occupants: Craigdarroch Military Hospital (1919-1921), Victoria College (1921-1946), Greater Victoria school board (1946-1967), Victoria Conservatory of Music (1968-1979), and historic house museum (1979-present).
