The Petawawa Heritage Society, an incorporated entity with charitable donation status and has been in operation for 11 years. The mandate for the Society includes collecting, and preserving materials pertaining to the history of Town of Petawawa. This is achieved through the Petawawa Heritage Village which is Situated on 3.5 picturesque acres in the heart of the of Petawawa where history is alive and ready for your visit. Stroll the pathways of the past and experience life in Petawawa as it once was from 1850 to 1910. The Petawawa Heritage Village provides an opportunity to visit 8 historical and replica buildings from the 19th and early 20th century and the aboriginal camp. You will also find volunteers interpreting the history of the area through historical interpretive programming, education & publications.

Programmes Éducatifs

1. Village Education Programs " Pioneer Experience"
Petawawa Heritage Village education programming is designed in accordance with the Ministry of Education, Ontario Curriculum. Each education program connects directly with the curriculum expectations found in the Social Studies/History & Geography curriculum. Many of our education programs provide students and educators with the cross-curriculum opportunities to increase student learning in the Arts, Language, Science & Technology and Physical Education strands.
2. Aboriginal women’s drumming circle
3. A day with the Blacksmith
4. Summer Youth Interpreter Program began July 2 and ran till Aug 29th This is a fun and interesting way to complete your Community Volunteer hours. This program is offered to youths ages 14 to 18 who want to live the life of a 19th century teenager.
