Shelburne County Museum

The Shelburne County Museum, operated by the Shelburne Historical Society, is located on the Shelburne waterfront in a former residence constructed by a Loyalist settler in 1787. Its archive serves those who wish to research the history of Shelburne County and its inhabitants. Its collection portrays those who have lived and settled here (Mi'kmaq, Loyalists, Black Loyalists, Welsh etc) and their occupations, such as shipbuilding.

Shelburne County Museum located on Dock Street at Maiden Lane, Shelburne, NS. The house was built in 1784 for David Nairn, a cooper by trade and a Loyalist settler in Shelburne.

Believed to be the oldest fire pumper in Canada. Manufactured in London, England by Richard Newsham about 1750, this fire pumper was purchased by the Shelburne Chamber of Commerce in 1785. The artifact is now the property of the Shelburne Volunteer Fire Department.

Silver tongs...made by Loyalist silversmith, John Craig. They were a wedding present to Loyalists Peter Guyon and Mrs. Jane (Jones) Crocheron when they were married in Shelburne in 1786. Peter Guyon came to Shelburne from Staten Island, N.Y.
