Région touristique : Edmonton
The Edmonton Radial Railway Society preserves the history of Edmonton's streetcars by restoring historic artifacts and operating streetcars in Fort Edmonton Park as well as across the High Level Bridge from Old Strathcona to Jasper Avenue
Renseignements sur les collections
A good number of former streetcar bodies have been "rescued" and are now restored in a reconstructed car barn; five cars at Fort Edmonton Park and three cars on the High Level Bridge Line are restored and fully operational, including three cars from Edmonton and one each from Ontario, Toronto, Osaka (Japan), Melbourne (Australia) and Hannover (Germany). Further restorations of streetcars from Edmonton, Saskatoon and Regina are under way. The collection also contains streetcar related artifacts, documents and historic pictures. A museum display is scheduled to open at the Strathcona Streetcar Barn in September 2008.
