Art Gallery of Greater Victoria
Région touristique : Vancouver Island
An historic Mansion is the heart of one of Canada's finest art museums. Our permanent collection of 14,000 objets d'art includes Canada's best Japanese collection and an impressive range of modern Canadian art including that of Emily Carr. These and other works, as well as travelling exhibits, are displayed regularly in our modern wings. Our gallery is located in the Historic Rockland Mansion district.
Renseignements sur les collections
The Art Gallery is the home to the largest public collection in British Columbia including the second most important Asian collection in Canada. The collection also features works by celebrated Canadian artists, including Emily Carr, North American and European historical artists, and traditional and contemporary Asian artists.
On permanent display is an indepth exhibition featuring the work of Emily Carr, her life and her writings. In our Japanese garden, visitors can view the only Shinto Shrine outside Japan. Some fine historical paintings and decorative pieces are exhibited in the 1889 Spencer Mansion, itself is a splendid example of turn-of-the century architecture.
Nombre approximatif d'objets ou de spécimens dans la collection : 15,000
