Our exhibits reflect the aboriginal and European settlement of the North Island.

About the Collections

First Nations material including artefacts from 8,000 year old settlement at Bear Cove, settlers' effects, natural history, forest industry. Annual major temporary exhibit April to October.

Operations: Year Round

Open: Winter Hours: Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 12:00, 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Call for extended summer hours.

Closed: Monday • Sunday
Closed 2 - 3 weeks at Christmas.

Admission: Charged
Admission by donation.
