Old Log Church Museum

Tourism Region: Yukon

The museum interprets the history of the Anglican Church in the Yukon and Mackenzie Delta region. Exhibits and interactive programmes feature Inuit and First Nations cultures, missionaries, whaling history in the western Arctic, and the development of the Church in the north.

The Old Log Church is an architectural artifact in itself, built in 1900 by the Reverend Richard Bowen. It is one of the oldest extant in situ structures in Whitehorse. Over the years this log structure has served as the centre of Anglican worship in Whitehorse. In 1953 it became the diocesan cathedral, later becoming a summer museum in 1962, a role it continues to maintain today. Also on site is the Log Rectory. In 1978 the Old Log Church was declared a Territorial Historic Site.
