Langley Centennial Museum & National Exhibition Centre
Tourism Region: Lower Mainland
The Langley Centennial Museum is one of the oldest community museums in the province of British Columbia. Its collection of artifacts began in 1928. The Museum opened at the current site in 1958 as a British Columbia centennial project. In 1974, the Museum was chosen as one of four facilities in British Columbia to become a National Exhibition Centre, and its first professional staff person was employed. The Museum has 3,500 square feet of exhibit space which includes both permanent galleries and space featuring travelling exhibits. Over 30,000 visitors a year come to the Museum and the school programmes reach about 9,000 students annually. The Museum houses about 10,000 artifacts, an extensive non-governmental archival collection and two art collections of provincial and national significance.
