Open to the public since january 24, 1996, the Musée des ondes Emile Berliner is different from most of the other Museums in Quebec in that it is one of the rare institutions dedicated to the history of technology and industrialisation of Quebec. Located in the old RCA Victor factory in the St. Henri district of Montreal, the Musée des ondes Emile Berliner is named in honour of the inventor of the record and the gramophone. The Museum is to be a place for the preservation and exhibition of any object (without regard to its place of origin) related to the history and evolution of the creation, production, reproduction, recording and broadcasting of sound.
