Just for Laughs Museum

Laughter, humour and fantasy finally have a place of their own! The Just for Laughs Museum is the first of its kind in the world.

In 1993, building on the success of the Just For Laughs Festival, Gilbert Rozon turned a 19th-century brewery into a special tribute to laughter and humour, those cultural phenomena vital to civilization. This place, the National Academy of Humour, is better known as the Just For Laughs Museum.
The Entertainers Hall of Fame was the first feature of the new museum, set in the floor even as renovations were still underway—the first step in preparing for the fabulous exhibitions to come.

Over the years the Museum has hosted such wonderful shows as Dialogue dans le noir and Yugo Next. "Les Amuseurs", our last exhibition, has been a great success form July 1999 to December 2001. The Just for Laughs Museum also co-produced the immensely popular Fou rire with the Musée de la Civilisation in Quebec City, a tribute to Francophone entertainers from the last 50 years.

The Museum is now presenting 2 exhibitions: Abracadabra! and The International Comedy Hall of fame

Abracadabra! is a bilingual, interactive exhibition for children, introducing them to the universe of magic and magicians.

It guarantees amazement and discovery for young visitors¾ and the adults accompanying them, too!

You'll find intriguing illusions, a creative workshop, magic tricks to learn, a trip back through time and history, a mini-magic show... and lots more! Throughout your tour of Abracadabra!, magician-guides will be on hand to answer your questions, guide and entertain you as you learn all about the fascinating world of magic!

The International Comedy Hall of fame is a tribute to the greatest humorists of all time! It's a treat for the whole family.

The exhibition honours all the greatest writers and performers, from Antiquity to the 19th century. The 20th-century Immortals of Comedy are theatre and film performers, writers, producers and creators from Quebec and other parts of Canada, the United States, French-speaking Europe, the UK and Italy.
