The Eastern Townships Resource Centre (ETRC) is an incorporated, not for-profit, organization located at Bishop's University. Its mission is to further multidisciplinary research into the history, culture and society of the Eastern Townships region of Quebec, and to preserve the region's English-speaking archival heritage.

Open: 9:00-12:00 and 13:00-16:30

Closed: Saturday • Sunday
Closed for all Canadian statutory holidays, plus the week between Christmas and New Years.

Archives

The Archives Department of the Eastern Townships Research Centre is devoted to the conservation and promotion of the region's rich and colourful heritage. The Archives Department acquires, processes, disseminates, and strives to conserve the archival heritage of Quebec's Eastern Townships for the purpose of research and teaching. Relevant documents, photographs, postcards, maps, plans, and audio-visual material are made available to researchers. Information is also provided to those tracing their family roots. The Archives Department has been accredited by Quebec's ministère de la Culture et des Communications since 1991.

Services & Activities

We provide reference service for researchers who visit our centre. We providd access to our primary sources (archival collection) and guidance with the use of our secondary sources. We ask that researchers wishing to use our primary sources make an appointment prior to their visit so trhat we may properly prepare the material.

Research Services

Reference service for the library collection. We can do quick look-ups in our resources for those who cannot visit us un person. Due to the amount of requests we receive, we must limit our research to 30 minutes per request.

Publications & Products

The ETRC publish an academic journal entitled the Journal of Eastern Townships Studies which is published biannually. The Journal of Eastern Townships Studies (JETS) is a bilingual, interdisciplinary journal devoted to the dissemination of research on the Eastern Townships of Quebec.
The ETRC also publish two newsletters per year. The ETRC also periodically publishes finding aids to its archival collection.
