The Prairie Mountain Regional Museums Collection Inc. is a new heritage destination on the TransCanada Yellowhead Highway #16 between Shoal Lake and Strathclair, Manitoba. PMRM operates the Clegg Carriage Museum at Arrow River, which houses over 90 fully restored horsedrawn vehicles. These will be moved to the new location once the new facility is completed. A heritage village and bed and breakfast are also planned for the site. In the future trails will be developed for hiking, birding, horsebackriding, and wagon/sleigh rides.

About the Collections

The Clegg Carriage Collection is displayed at the Arrow River site. This is a collection of over 90 fully restored horse drawn vehicles including a World War I ambulance, summer and winter hearse, stagecoach, Surrey with a fringe, sleighs and cutters, and many more. The heritage village under development at the Highway #16 site includes a one room schoolhouse, a farm home, a Ukrainian Catholic Church, and a house that was once a way stop on the Fort Ellice trail and is being converted to a bed and breakfast.

The PMRM showcases rural life and the importance of horse drawn vehicles along the Fort Ellice Trail and throughout the Prairie Mountain Region of southwestern Manitoba from 1870 to 1940.
