Castle Kilbride is the 1877 grand home of James Livingston, Canada's “Flax Mill King." Nationally recognized Trompe l'oeil (“fools the eye”) three-dimensional wall and ceiling murals throughout. The home is fully restored and furnished to reflect the 1877 to 1927 time period. The "Jewel of Wilmot Township" - A National Historic Site.

About Collections

The artifacts throughout the furnished 1877 home are upper class Victorian in style. Other periods include Edwardian, Empire, Art Nouveau and Art Deco. Inside the home contains unique Canadiana furniture, household accessories, quilts, unique light fixtures and paper documents. Castle Kilbride's special collections include Homer Watson paintings, rare documentation with Homer Watson, McKenzie King and Joseph Seagram; Ladies of the Maccabees of the World,

Archives

Located in the lower level of Castle Kilbride, the Sir Adam Beck Archives has been established as a permanent repository of historical records to preserve the identity and heritage of Wilmot Township, its organizations and its residents, both past and present.
