Human History

The Caldwell display commemorates one of Lanark's earliest families - William Caldwell, who came to Canada with his family on the ship Earl of Buckinghamshire in 1821. He and his two sons (Alexander and Boyd) became important Lumber Barons of The Ottawa Valley. The Memorabalia housed in the museum will help preserve their heritage.

The Fence display shows the different styles of wooden fences built over the years since the first settlers arrived in Lanark County. EG. Stump, Stone, Snake, ETC.

The Mair Display - Charles Mair was an Author and Poet. Most of his books are long out of print, but his involvement in the Riel Rebellion makes him a person of importance in the opening of the west.
