Take a fascinating stereo taped tour as you discover the home that Dr. John Sebastian Helmcken built for his bride in 1852, and hear the good doctor describe what Victoria was like in the old days. His wife, Cecilia, daughter of the Governor of Vancouver Island, recounts her life as a pioneer mother, and Aunt Dolly reveals why she left her father's room untouched as a shrine to his memory after he died in 1920. See one of the largest collections of surgical instruments in western Canada. Dr. Helmcken was one of British Columbia's Father's of Confederation and the only Confederation delegate to keep a journal of the negotiations. The Home itself is a fine example of Hudson's Bay Company, or Red River architecture.
