Claybank Brick Plant National Historic Site and Museum
Région touristique : South West Tourism Region
Nestled in the rolling hills of Southern Saskatchewan is the Claybank Brick Plant National Historic Site and Museum. The site offers guided tours of the brick making process from Clay to Kiln. This site is the best preserved example of late 19th century industrialism in North America. The site is virtually frozen in the 1912 - 1937 period and is still operable today. Our 10 beehive Kilns and outbuildings are intact and most are open for viewing. The 320 acre site includes the protected 256 acre Massold Clay Canyons that are open for hiking to Site visitors only. The location is picturesque and peaceful. Our tour starts at the rehabilitated Bunkhouse, this brick building housed a maximum of 40 men in years gone by. The original machinery at this site produced the first brick in 1914 and the last in 1989. A unique interesting and informative experience.
